Accessibility Statement
The University of Vienna is committed to providing accessible websites in accordance with the Austrian Web-Zugänglichkeits-Gesetz (WZG, web accessibility act) as amended to implement the Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 on barrier-free access to the websites and mobile applications of public authorities (Official Journal L 327, 2.12.2016, p. 1).
This accessibility statement applies to the website https://urise.univie.ac.at.
Status of compliance with the requirements
This website is partially compliant with Conformance Level AA of the "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Web - WCAG 2.2" and the applicable European Standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1, respectively, due to the following inconsistencies and exceptions.
Non-accessible Contents
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
a) Content not compliant with accessibility regulations
· 1.1.1 Non-text Content
Not all relevant images have a meaningful alternative text. Some images lack the alt attribute.
· 1.3.1 Info and Relationships
The heading structure is not always consistent and correct. Not all content that functions as a heading is correctly marked up as a heading.
· 1.4.1 Use of Colour
Colour is the only means to visually tell apart links and the surrounding text.
· 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) and 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast
There are a few cases where text and icons which convey meaning and background colour have an insufficient contrast ratio.
· 1.4.10 Reflow
When zoomed to 400%, not all content is readable. Sticky headers and footers cover up relevant information.
· 2.1.1 Keyboard
Accordions and some buttons cannot be operated by keyboard alone.
· 2.4.2 Page Titled
Not all pages have a meaningful page title.
· 2.4.3 Focus Order
The focus order when navigation by keyboard is not always correct.
· 2.4.7 Focus Visible
When using keyboard navigation, the focus outline is not always visible.
· 3.1.2 Language of Parts
There are some English buttons that have not been translated to German on the German language page. And there is some German text on the English language page.
· 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value
Not all buttons convey their status correctly. Subcategory filters, for example, don’t convey if they are open or closed. The current page is only conveyed visually and not for screenreader users.
Some checkboxes don’t have an accessible name and some buttons, for example the mobile menu button and the shopping basket, don’t have sufficiently meaningful names.
b) Content Outside the Scope of the Applicable Legal Provision.
· Third-party content, which is not within the sphere of influence of the University of Vienna, is excluded from Directive (EU) 2016/2102. No statement can be made regarding the compatibility of such third-party content with the accessibility provisions.
· Please contact us if you encounter any barriers with a particular document so we can find solutions on an individual basis.
