Terms of Use of the University of Vienna's u:rise Platform for Professional & Career Development
1. General provisions
The following Terms of Use govern the use of the u:rise platform for Professional & Career Development of the University of Vienna and the associated online services. By using the Platform, you agree to be bound by the Terms of Use. If you do not agree to the Terms of Use, you will not be permitted to use the Platform.
2. Scope and purpose of the u:rise platform
The u:rise platform serves as an information and communication platform for students, employees and other authorized users. The Platform offers various features, such as registering for events, creating/supplementing profiles, and accessing relevant resources and information.
3. Use of the u:rise platform
The Platform may be used by Users for the following purposes:
- Registration and participation in events: Users have the option of registering for events. You will receive relevant information and can participate in the events.
- Access to "My bookings": Users can manage their login and participation information and view their events.
- Profile management: Users can create and manage a profile that includes information such as email address and selected voluntarily entered data.
- Use of system notifications: Users receive important notifications about events.
4. Registration and Login
Members of the University of Vienna log in to u:rise with u:account.
Guest users can create a guest account to book and use selected offers on u:rise. When registering, users must provide complete and accurate information, such as their name, email address and, if applicable, other data required to register for events. Guest account creation is completed by verifying the email address provided. User data must be kept up-to-date and correct. Users are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of their access data and may not disclose it to third parties.
5. Profile configuration and data protection
Users have the possibility to expand their individual profile. In doing so, they are responsible for entering the correct and complete data. Users decide independently and voluntarily what information they add and what data they make public or only visible to certain user groups. The personal data processed in the context of the profile is subject to the provisions of the privacy policy of the u:rise platform and the general data protection declaration of the University of Vienna. Users agree that their data will be processed in accordance with the applicable data protection regulations.
6. Use of cookies
The u:rise platform uses cookies to improve the user experience and ensure the functionality of the site. Cookies can be used to store preferences, manage session data, and store other user-related settings. Users can disable the use of cookies in the settings of their browser, but must be aware that this may affect the use of certain features of the Platform.
7. Behaviour on the u:rise platform
Users agree to use the Platform and all related services in accordance with applicable laws and these Terms of Use. In particular, users are prohibited from:
- Granting unauthorized access to systems or networks of the University of Vienna or the u:rise platform or third parties.
- Uploading or distributing malware, viruses, or other harmful programs
- Use the Platform or any part of the Platform in a manner that is detrimental to the operation or security of the Platform
- Posting prohibited content, such as hate speech, discrimination, threats, or illegal content
- Collecting, storing or disseminating personal data of other users without their explicit consent
8. Use of hyperlinks and external content
The u:rise platform contains hyperlinks that may lead to websites of the University of Vienna or to websites of external providers/third parties. The University of Vienna assumes no liability for the content and correctness of the external pages. Users are responsible for the use of external websites and should also read their privacy policies and Terms of Use.
9. Changes to the Platform
The University of Vienna reserves the right to change, expand or remove certain functions of the u:rise platform at any time. Furthermore, it does not guarantee that the Platform will be available at all times without interruption or error. In the event of material changes to the Platform, the functions or these Terms of Use, the Users will be informed accordingly.
10. Rights and obligations of users
Users are responsible for all activities that occur through their account on the Platform. Users are obliged to use the Platform only in accordance with the provisions of these Terms of Use. Users have the right to manage and update their data in accordance with the provisions of the privacy policy of the u:rise platform. Users are obliged to inform the University of Vienna immediately in the event of suspicion of misuse or unauthorized access to their account.
11. Disclaimer
The University of Vienna shall not be liable for damages arising from the use of the Platform, unless they are caused by wilful or grossly negligent behaviour on the part of the University of Vienna. Liability for slight negligence is excluded unless material contractual obligations are affected.
The University of Vienna does not assume any liability for the accuracy, completeness or topicality of the content provided on the platform, in particular the course or course content provided by third parties. The University of Vienna is exclusively liable for its own content provided with intent or gross negligence. The University of Vienna would like to emphasise that the respective providers are responsible for content or offers provided by external organisers or third-party providers. The use of the Platform is at the user's own risk, provided that there are no mandatory legal provisions to the contrary.
12. Rights of the University of Vienna
The University of Vienna reserves the right to restrict, block or terminate access to the Platform or certain functions at any time if a violation of the Terms of Use is detected or for other operational reasons, e.g. to maintain or improve the Platform.
13. Termination of Use
The University of Vienna may terminate access to the Platform or individual functions at any time without prior notice in the event of violations of these Terms of Use by Users. In the event of termination, there is no entitlement to a refund or compensation for payments already made.
14. Changes to the Terms of Use
The University reserves the right to amend these Terms of Use at any time. Changes will be posted on this page. They are effective from the date of publication. A regular review of the Terms of Use is recommended.
15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms of Use are governed by Austrian law. For all disputes arising from the use of the Platform, the place of jurisdiction is at the headquarters of the University of Vienna.
