How can gender and racial minorities achieve their academic aspirations? How do gender and race intersect to create unequal opportunities and recognition in academia? What can minorities do to overcome the challenges posed by these inequalities and biases? 

This workshop examines the barriers that hinder the success of gender and racial minorities in academia, explains their underlying causes, and offers practical strategies to overcome these obstacles and achieve career goals. It begins with a discussion in which participants share personal experiences of navigating academic life. Next, social psychological research on gender and racial biases, along with real-life examples, will be presented to highlight the inequalities and challenges commonly faced by minorities in academia. Finally, actionable recommendations will be provided and discussed.
