As a postdoc you have a particularly efficient way of working and a high willingness to perform. This is the only way you can cope with your daily work, which is characterised by many tasks, the highest demands and limited time.
At the same time, many postdocs experience that despite all self-optimisation and efficiency, something does not work out. How can you deal with this limit appropriately? Smart self-leadership always includes acceptance and self-care. Accepting limits and being mindful of oneself is essential for leaders. Contents of this workshop are:
- Cultivating serenity
- Perfectionism and acceptance
- Dealing with dilemmas and boundaries
- Constructive error culture and successful failure
- Self-care and regeneration
The workshop consists of theoretical segments, plenary discussions as well as interactive small-group discussions, where participants share their experiences regarding stress with each other. There will of course also be room to address the participants questions.
Teacher
Jan Stamm
Jan Stamm is a certified communication and behavioural trainer and coach. He has several years of experience in training and coaching doctoral candidates, post-docs and professors.
Jan Stamm studied philosophy, linguistics and economics at the University of Dortmund, Humboldt University of Berlin, and Nottingham University. He completed the interdisciplinary graduate programme of the Berlin School of Mind and Brain and graduated with a degree in philosophy (summa cum laude).
His work focuses on time and self-management as well as project management in academia. He holds dissertation and rhetoric training courses and supervises doctoral teams as well as peer coaching for post-docs. He also offers stress management workshops for professors.
