This webinar is about raising awareness for the importance of the internationally renowned unique persistent identifier for researchers, namely the ORCID iD.

We will talk about

  • The importance of researcher name disambiguation
  • The current standard solution provided by ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID)
  • The mutual benefits for researchers and organizations
  • How to set up, populate and synchronize your ORCID Record (optionally via u:cris, the current research information system of the University of Vienna)

Teacher

Christian Gumpenberger

Christian is an Austrian expert in bibliometrics and savvy in Open Access. He holds a doctorate in veterinary medicine and a master's degree in Library and Information Science. As the Head of the Bibliometrics and Publication Strategies team of the Vienna University Library, he has been involved in promoting Open Science initiatives in Austria. His work includes leading a subproject in the Austrian Transition to Open Access 2 project (AT2OA2), investigating the visibility of Open Access publications using alternative metrics, as well as co-leading the ORCID Austria Consortium.
